CHIMNEY WORK
The chimney is considered one of the most taken-for-granted parts of the home according to CSIA. They are always exposed to the harsh weather conditions like freeze/thaw, excessive rain, wind and sun. Prolonged contact with the water creates the process that leads to the damage of the chimney, deterioration of the flue lining system and creates multiple risks.

There are Few preventive measures to protect your chimney against the mother nature:
  • chimney caps are the most inexpensive and protect from the water getting inside the chimney flue system, against the animals (when supplied with the screen) and work as the spark arrestors.
  • chimney waterproofing with water repellent is another way to protect your chimney against bad the weather conditions. Porous surface of the brickwork usually absorbs large amounts of water and the chimney treated with the water repellent is protected against the water from entering inside the brickwork while allowing the bricks the breathe (100% water permeable).

There are many reasons for the damage to your chimney and we are trained to help determine the cause of your chimney deterioration to help prevent this situation and hazard from happening in the future.

  • RECONSTRUCTION - when the bricks face starts to flake off or spall the right repair is to rebuild the chimney. It is done by dismantling of the existing brick or stonework and recreating the new masonry structure. The top or crown of the chimney is finished off with a new precast concrete crown.

  • TUCKPOINTING - when the mortar joints become damaged due to weather conditions, particularly excessive amounts of water tuckpointing is a repair which stops this destructive process by removing (cutting out) deteriorated mortar and replacing it with new mortar. The tuckpointing however should be performed only when the existing brick/stone work appears to be in sound condition and the deteriorated joints appear only in the spots of the overall brick/stone work. Re-pointing of the badly deteriorated masonry structure is not worth the repair and the chimney or wall usually need to be rebuilt.

  • CHIMNEY RELINING -  According to NFPA Code 211 all chimneys shall have a flue liner that can contain and exhaust all by products of combustion including heat, dangerous gases, creosote and condensation. When the flue liner can no longer perform this intended purpose it shall be repaired or replaced. In most instances this is accomplished by using a metal pipe inserted from the top of the chimney down to the appliances. We are qualified to  determine what  type and grade of pipe is best for your chimney's needs.

  • FLASHING -  is the sheet metal that seals out water where your chimney meets or passes through the roof. It is a critical seal in making certain that your chimney is weather tight. Proper flashing will be imbedded into the chimney masonry and consist of both step and counter flashing. Flashing's are custom made at the job site to insure a proper tight fitting seal between your roof and chimney. When done properly by our experts, this flashing will keep water out of your house for many years.

  • CHASE COVERS are an external top covering for a prefabricated chimney or a brick chimney. copper or Stainless steel made are covered with lifetime warranty.

Our scope of work includes but is not limited to the repair, reline and construction the chimneys and fireplaces, repair of the smoke chambers, fireboxes and chimney shoulders.
